Insideletters helps you build a 1 person newsletter business. 3X weekly.

Hi there, how’s it going?

It was Diwali yesterday, and the whole of India celebrated like crazy. I thought, during this festive time, I’d give you a small gift.

This gift will help you write newsletters with ease. Shall we start?

When I started writing my newsletter, I used to write it like a blog post.

But that isn’t the ideal way of doing it.

Instead, you should follow a framework and a template.

When I say “template”, I don’t mean a pre-made newsletter that you just tweak with AI.

A template is the way you actually structure and represent your content so it optimises for engagement and makes money out of it.

But first, let’s talk about the framework.

My STRIPE framework

I’m an email marketer, so I’ve tried a lot of frameworks for writing emails. HSO (my favourite), PAS, DIC…

But newsletters are different, though. The goal is not just to sell, it’s to engage, retain, and deliver value consistently. So I created my own style: STRIPE.

Here’s how it works:

1. Setup

You need to increase the interest of the readers. So…Start with a relatable story that grabs attention. The engagement rate would be high. You’ll see the same with Insideletter, too.

2. Tip

The next step would be to validate the setup. So you need to share an actionable tip or insight. Your goal is to retain them for the next part.

3. Reveal offer

Plug your product, service or lead magnet. Make it feel like the obvious next step. Don't sell. Project it as a solution for them. It varies based on the business model.

Join my newsletter community, where I personally coach you to build a newsletter business.

4. Invite

If you don’t lead them, they will not take any action. So, you gotta send them in a desired direction. Like, buying an ebook or any course or any product.

5. Prompt

This step is a must for every newsletter. You need to ask them to share your newsletter every freaking time. Give them some sort of reward so they forward your newsletter. I’d recommend that you use the same template every time.

6. Engage

Reply rate matters the most, so you need to act on it. I always suggest asking them to reply and hit a poll. Ask for an easy task, don’t ask too much, please.

It always works, and it's the best format you’ll ever use.

Now let’s talk about the template.

First, once you write the subject line and preheader, consider formatting your newsletter like this:

  1. Read time - It helps the readers to set expectations.

  2. About - I suggest adding it to every edition, simply mention why they should read your newsletter in just 2 lines, because every day someone new is reading your newsletter.

  3. Body - Here you’ll write the body copy using the Stripe framework.

  4. Share - You need to ask them to share it with their friends in exchange of a reward.

  5. Extra - This is not compulsory, but if you’ve any other newsletter or want to promote any service, then you can add something.

Do you think this newsletter is helpful for your friends? You can ask them to sign up! It’s always free.
