Hi 👋🏻
It’s Monday again, and it’s Growth Day! Remember, we talked about referral programs?
If your ESP doesn’t support one, there’s another way to achieve the same result. In today’s newsletter, I’ll show you how.
Most newsletters obsess over the main content. But the actual growth lever is at the bottom.
What to do:
After every newsletter edition, at the bottom, add a short, highly visible, and relatable P.S. section to every email that will turn readers into promoters.
Example:
P.S. Enjoying this? Forward it to 1 friend who’d love it too. If they subscribe, I’ll send you my private ‘X guide.’
You can create an automation with the ideal trigger, and it’ll make the work.
But don’t stop there, make it frictionless:
Include a one-click share link (pre-filled email or WhatsApp message)
Offer a good incentive (exclusive content, templates, early access)
Track referrals with tools like unique links
Why this works
People who already read you are your highest-converting acquisition channel
A soft ask in the P.S. naturally encourages your audience to invite people who trust them and value their recommendations.
Repetition builds habit → readers start expecting (and acting on) it
Make it stronger (most people skip this part)
Instead of a generic ask, tie it to the current issue:
If your newsletter is about productivity:
‘Know someone struggling with focus? Send them this.’
If it’s about startups:
‘Forward this to that friend always talking about launching something.’
This specificity increases shares.
Bonus multiplier
Every 3–4 issues, add a milestone reward:
‘Refer 3 people → get X’
‘Top 10 referrers this month → get Y’
Now you’ve turned passive readers into active distributors.
Did you like it?
Your newsletter growth is in your hands. So make sure every subscribers are helping you grow your newsletter.
Hope it was helpful! Thanks for reading! See you soon!
