Equipment policies break when you hire globally

Deel’s latest policy template on IT Equipment Policies can help HR teams stay organized when handling requests across time zones (and even languages). This free template gives you:

  • Clear provisioning rules across all countries

  • Security protocols that prevent compliance gaps

  • Return processes that actually work remotely

This free equipment provisioning policy will enable you to adjust to any state or country you hire from instead of producing a new policy every time. That means less complexity and more time for greater priorities.

Hi 👋🏻

A few days back, I told you how Substack is helping me grow my newsletter. I’ve added 50 new subscribers just from Substack in my private newsletter.

So today, let me give you the exact playbook you should be using. And as usual, it’s free to read.

Enjoy the last edition of January 🙂

Notes

If you are like me and started using Twitter back in 2017, you have seen how the platform changed. It went from being political and scrappy to becoming creator-first. Today, tweets actually help you grow.

Substack Notes started from the same place, mixed with the early days of Instagram.

Right now, many people are asking for subscribe for subscribe. Most posts look like ‘Hey algorithm, connect me with xyz.’

But people like me are using the platform to drive traffic. Many others are treating Notes like Twitter. Some notes are going mega viral, getting 3k, 4k, even 8k likes.

If we assume a 1% conversion rate, a single note can drive 30 new subscribers. That is powerful. That was not the case for me, but I still got 50 subscribers from it, which is a win.

Ideal cadence → 3X Notes per day

Distribution

Please don’t make Substack your hero platform. Substack is becoming another social media platform like LinkedIn and Medium. Where you wouldn’t be able to control your audience.

So keep Beehiiv as your main platform, but use Substack as a distribution platform. It’s working the best right now, so it’d be so foolish not to use it right now.

Manual subscription

I asked Tyler, the founder of Beehiiv, whether it’s possible to auto-subscribe Substack subscribers to Beehiiv using Zapier or any other workaround. He said it’s not possible because Substack does not have an API

Positioning

Irrespective of the platform, you must fix your positioning. That is the number one factor that decides subscriber growth. I would never subscribe to someone who talks about random topics. Yet whenever I ask people about their niche, I keep hearing the same answer. They write about whatever they feel like writing.”

Fix these 3:

  • Who it’s for

  • What you’ll write

  • Why you care

Copywriting

Focus on content quality. Do not copy-paste AI-written content. I do not follow or even open newsletters that are obviously written by AI. People are already tired of AI content.

Do not write with AI. Write it yourself, even if your grammar is not perfect or your writing feels rough. What matters is depth, clarity of thought, and honesty.

Your content must be high quality. That is non-negotiable.

Listen to me

The Substack surge will not last forever, so use it before the platform loses momentum. I hope this was helpful for you. Thank you for reading today’s edition
