Requirement: Optimised LinkedIn and X profile

Insideletter helps you build a 1 person newsletter business. 3X weekly.

I started my Twitter account back in 2017. Though it was my general profile, now it’s a travel profile.

And I started my business profile in May 2023. When I started my freelance business.

Well, I was always a Twitter (now it’s X) fan. Maybe because I didn’t use any other platform that much, or maybe Instagram was full of fake people.

But one platform, which was just a job search platform back at that time, was LinkedIn.

I’ve created an account on LinkedIn, and it was full of people who were looking for jobs or offering them. I also tried to use it in the same way, as I was doing my diploma at that time.

But COVID came, and I stopped everything. Came back in 2023.

Today, let’s talk about how you can get subscribers with LinkedIn and X.

You might be wondering why I always focus on LinkedIn and X over other platforms.

The thing is, no other platform offers the same capabilities and consistently delivers subscribers every day.

Since both LinkedIn and X are text-led platforms, reading others’ posts indicates that users, according to psychology, will engage with newsletters to gain knowledge.

In contrast, Instagram and Pinterest are visual platforms, they can help you grow your subscribers, but they require more effort and a strong aesthetic.

Quora and Reddit are also useful, but Reddit has the complexities of Karma points, and Quora is flooded with AI-generated answers, which can be quite distracting.

How to use LinkedIn to grow subscribers:

There are 5 ways to do it with LinkedIn. Let’s talk about them 1 by 1.

LinkedIn gave you a real estate, 90% never use it. But it’s the best way to drive subscribers.

Here’s what I did:

I’ve attached one lead magnet to my profile.

My role is, write something about my newsletter or around the newsletter business and send the traffic to grab the lead magnet.

There is a blue link below your location on LinkedIn, you can add the newsletter signup link there as well.

3. Custom button

LinkedIn introduced a custom button, and they might retire the blue link anytime soon.

But it’s not customisable, but still you can pick, ‘subscribe to my newsletter button’, because it floats with your name whenever you post + in the DMs too.

4. Organic way

When it comes to social media, LinkedIn is the most trusted platform, and it can bring you high-profile traffic, too.

So write daily and send the traffic to the landing page of your newsletter.

5. DM people

LinkedIn is the best platform when it comes to DM. No other platform has made it that smooth.

So, you can connect with 10 new people every day. And ask them to subscribe to your newsletter.

How to use X to grow your subscribers

There are a total of 3 ways to grow your subscribers on X.

1. Hero section of your profile

Twitter made the link adding thing so smooth.

If you see, we can link in the profile bio too, which is not advisable, but it’s really amazing.

2. Twitter DM

There is a problem with Twitter DM If anyone has a premium account, they can stop you from sending a dm.

But mostly people keep it open, and Twitter DMs are really amazing. I mean, it worked for me.

3. Communities

Twitter has recently emphasised community, and many people are building their own communities. Building in public types of community are truly amazing.

218K is not a joke if you can use and capture it properly.

And one strategy that can work on both platforms is: teaser posts and follow-up posts.

Post a teaser before your newsletter goes live, and post again after it goes live. It works for both platforms, and you can apply it too.

I hope this edition will help you reach your first 1000 subscribers asap.

Come on, start working on it.
